how can i build a print server on win2k server?
--

George,

I'm not sure I understand the question. If we have a network printer that we can setup a print queue for on the Windows 2000
server using something like the Standard TCP/IP Port or printers connected to the server using LPT or USB ports, we can
share these printer queues to make them available to client computers on the network. At this point the system would be
considered a Print Server.

printers folder.I can ping it but when I try to print a
test page from the server nothing happen and as It is a
shared printer I want to add it on a win2k workstation
but i have a msg error saying that the pc could not
connect to the print.
May be I did something wrong when I did set the printer.

First make sure we are not having a connection issue with the server. Create a share folder to test with and see if a
workstation can see access this. If so then we at least know the workstations can communicate with the server and should
be able to use a printer shared on the server. The next step would be to check the print queue setup on the server, since
you said the server is not even printing to the printer.

How did you create the printer port? How is the printer connected, directly, on the network, etc.? If the printer is on the
network using a server device, like a JetDirect, can we ping the IP address for the device?
