Build 5728 problems

I run an nforce4 SLI motherboard with 2 pairs of drives in RAID1. Beta
2 installed and ran fine. RC1 build 5600 would not even attempt to
install because it couldn't find the drives.

Build 5728 installs and runs once. It then tries to install some
"drivers from preconfigured folders" (which fails), then a couple
updates, then attempts to shut down, which hangs indefinitely.
When I force a reboot, it looks like it's starting up, then goes to a
black screen and never comes out of it. I have tried reinstalling
twice with the same results.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I had a problem with 5728 continuously rebooting. Used the F8 key and
selected the ignore automatic reboot on hardware failure. This way you may be
able to get into the shell to troubleshoot.

It's not you. I have the same problem. Microsoft has a lot of work to do for
the install to work correctly with NVIDIA raid based PCs. I've heard that
build 5731 seems to work but can't find a download for it so I can try it
myself.

i have the same problem too... I have an nForce4 RAID 0 with 4 Seagate disks
and I get thru the copy and reboot stage on build 5600, but after that I'll
see a pretty walpaper design and an hourglass on my screen for 7 hours before
I decide to pull the plug on the operation.

I figured I could leave it that way for 2 weeks and the results would be the
same.

Build 5728 won't even copy; I get an error code. At least it's right away
and let's me know what's going on instead of just sitting idle until I decide
to hit the restart button so i can have my computer back.

It's definitely not seeing the RAID after bootup. I am installing the
drivers from the ASUS website since I am using the A8N-SLI mobo.

Any suggestions, leave them. Otherwise I'll wait until vista goes retail.

Aymincendiary:
In beta 2 and PRC1 the Nvidia drivers installed during the
add drivers mode worked. In RC1 (5600) the Nvidia raid drivers were corrupt
and wouldn't install, I wiped out a raid1 array trying to install the
drivers. With RC1 (5728) the Nvidia drivers are included and don't have to
be added. I'm currently running Nvidia raid1 on RC1 (5728) in x64 and x86
versions.

I downloaded the vista32beta2 drivers and have gotten to where vista rc1 5600
is expanding the files on one of the partitions on my nvidia nforce4 sata
raid array... so far it has been at 27% for the last 90 minutes. I noticed
the screen resolution has changed and is much lower than my 1280 by 1024 set
by my ATI graphics adapter.

5728 doesn't even copy the files... it stops with an error code. at least it
doesn't leave me hanging for hours like 5600.

i'll let it go for another 2 hours before i hit the reset button and try
something else. This operating system is turning out to be a real abortion...
remember windows 95 when it first came out?

looks like i'll be staying with xp pro for the forseeable future.

using 5600 build and the vista32beta2 sata drivers i have gotten to the
expanding files portion after reboot... it has been 2 hours and is stuck at
27%

this is turning out to be another win 95...
