As a Newbie on computers and just tying to
learn what is what; I did a pc audit on my
laptop,(Belarc Advisor), to see what exactly
I have on my system. Under Operating System
it says I have "Windows XP Home Edition Service
Pack 2 (build 2600)."

Before XP was released, test versions of it were released in a series
of "builds," each with a different number to identify that version.
2600 is the number of the final released version.

That's all it means. Everyone now has the same number.

All windows operating systems have build number. Build number 2600 was the
final release of Windows XP when it was released. My copy is build 2600 and
so is everyone elses.
