I recently installed some buggy software that proceeded to tinker with my
Windows XP Pro installation..............no clock stoppers
(yet)..........but I had to reinstall some software because it quit working.
Tonight when I went to the Help Center I got the error message that Windows
couldn't find helpctr.exe. I did a search and found the file.........and it
runs fine under the "Run" command on the Start menu. Other than going back
to an earlier restore point, does anyone know how to re-associate that file
with the Help and Support Menu?

Thanks.

Take a look at Kelly's link, below, under "H" for tips on making HELP healthy.

Hi JR,

From the hidden and protected folder \Windows\Inf look up the file
'srchasst.inf'
Right click on this file and select install. It'll ask you for the
Windows XP CD.
