BUG: XP System Restore and MM 2

Thanks to system restore, I've lost my database of clip
collections (which took me months to create!)

I had a problem with some video rendering and decided to
upgrade to DX 9.0b. Taking care, I created a restore
point before the upgrade. Installed DX 9.0b and carried
on making movies. Then, I noticed that the movie I was
working on had unexplained "glitches" - like interference
lines. Since I'd done a restore point before the upgrade
to DX 9.0b, I figured it would be easy to check if my
hardware/drivers had a problem with DX 9.0b - and did a
restore (back to 9.0).

Went back into MM2 and was greeted with no collections.

I re-restored back to 9.0b and still no collections.

So, that's the BUG - System Restore wiped my collections
database.

System Restore says "This process does not cause you to
lose recent work, [...] and is completely reversible."

Yeah. Right. Thanks MS.

Disgruntled and completely pissed off? you bet.

Yes, a collection database can disappear or get corrupted. For others
reading this, it's important to backup your collection database file to
another drive, a CD, etc. Movie Maker doesn't do it for you.

See the Managing.. Collections page of my website. Maybe too late for Ruzz.
