Bug on update version

Hi. My MSAS updates correctly. When I look at the main page, it says the
date of the new definitions file. But, when looking at the 'about'
dialog box, it is marked as the old one.

I try to re-update again throught the menu bar, obviosly it indicates
that there is not any new update at all. Ok. when going to the 'about'
menu, now it points to the definitions file version really installed.

I think this is a bug, but there is not any option to send that
information directly throught the menu at MSAS, so I post it here since
it is not the first time a bug is posted on this newsgroup.

This is, indeed, a bug--and you've described it quite well. It's been there
since the first release, and I don't expect it to be fixed before beta2.

The reason for this is you must first close MSAS and then
releaunch it for the file that it uses for the About
function to be properly updated.

What version are you running?

I just updated my definitions files to 5761, and when I
went to Help > About Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware... it
displayed the updated information just fine.

The latest build is 615 (i.e., version 1.0.615). If you
don't have build 615, here's the link to get build 615:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?
FamilyId=321CD7A2-6A57-4C57-A8BD-
DBF62EDA9671&displaylang=en.

When updating to build 615, or any time you update to a
new build of MSAS, uninstall MSAS first, delete the
entire MSAS folder from c:\program files, reboot the
system, and then install the latest build.

It really is a bug--and it is present in .615 as well as previous versions.
I just updated via the automatic update with notification--I got a popup
saying defs were available, hit yes, and they were installed. I then opened
the program, hit help, about, and it read 5757. Did File, Check for
updates, it didn't pull anything in. Went to help, about, and it now reads
5761.

You really can upgrade by just running the downloaded executable. I've done
it dozens of times. The delete the install directory process works for
certain issues, but these issues are not seen by the vast majority of users,
fortunately.
