After I installed this patch KB941649, the sleep doesn't work properly if the
power goes off, i.e. the computer doesn't boot when the power is turned on.

Reproduction steps:
1. press the sleep button and wait until the computer gone to sleep
2. turn off the power
3. turn on the power
.... and the computer doesn't boot, it doesn't return from hibernation, you
have to press the reset button in order to be executed the return from
hibernation properly ;-(((

without the patch everything works fine.

No problems with the patch here, but a general observation about
hibernation.

When I hibernate here, the monitor goes off immediately, whereas
peripherals, such as keyboard go off approx. 5-10 seconds later, presumably
after RAM has been fully saved to disk. If you turn off at the wall prior to
that, then I'd suspect you'd have problems resuming.

So perhaps waiting 5-10 seconds before turning off at the wall may make the
difference.

Also make sure that you're distinguishing between 'sleep' mode, and
'hibernation' - they're not the same. You can turn the power off with
hibernation, but not (safely) with sleep / standby .
