To override this (temporary?...) problem you have to click Start, then Run
and paste exactly Msiexec /x {A5CC2A09-E9D3-49EC-923D-03874BBD4C2C} in the
box. Click ok yes and follow the steps. Your old definitions should be then
removed. You can now open Windows Defender and update to the most recent
definition by clickin help then about and clicking check for update. By the
way, if you can't remove the old definition, you have to turn your PC OFF
then turn it ON (it should not be in the process of updating at that time. Is
that clear? Go on then...
