Hi,
I have recently posted a message explaining problems with Windows 2003 and Wi-Fi.
After further investigations I believe that I have found a bug in the Windows Server 2003 OS.
To reproduce the bug do the following.
1. Install a fresh copy of Windows Server 2003 (Standard)
2. Install a wireless networking card (I used a LevelOne WNC-0300 with Windows XP drivers). Reboot the machine.
3. Everything should work fine by now. Restart to see if it still works. (mine did)
4. Now, install IIS/ASP.NET/COM+, i.e. add the Application Server Role (via the utility called Manage Your Server). (HERE IS THE PROBLEM)
5. During my installation Windows Server 2003 completely froze.
6. Reboot the machine. What happens now is that you will get a blank screen. Nothing happens.
To fix the problem
1. Boot up in Safe Mode without networking.
2. Uninstall the IIS/ASP.NET via Add/Remove programs (Removing the Application Role from the Manage Your Server-utility doesn't work).
3. Reboot the PC and it will work fine.
Where at Microsoft ([email protected]????) should I post this?
