Bug: CGI

Many small images (PNG's I think) on a lot of web pages are displayed as
boxes with red X's. When right clicked for properties the ID shown is
http://127.0.0.1:3004/bug.cgi
I have checked this news group for information and since I have Zone Alarm,
I have tried turning of the ad blocker as some others were advised. This
didn't work at all. I found no solution for this in Microsoft Support. It is
annoying and makes working with many sites difficult. I noticed some say it
is only on E Bay, but I find this on almost all sites, especially interactive
sites (shopping, etc.).

Any other solutions or changes in Zone Alarm? I also have a Spy Hunter
program that blocks certain "bots" but I don't think that this is the cause.
Microsoft article 822071 may apply to this problem, but I'm not sure (no
solution is offered).

It's from many webs; not just EBay. I have it also. It seems to come and go.
I think http://127.0.0.1 is your private IP address which doesn't normally
exist and it can't find bug.cgi at that address. Although I have no idea
what the bug.cgi is so it is better it can't find it. This causes the red X.
It's not Zone Alarm. I have ZA Pro.

I hope someone will be come up with an answer.

This sounds exactly like what would happen if you had a anti-webbug product
installed. IE does not have a feature which would cause this to happen.

I have found a solution to most of this problem on the Zone Alarm forums.
Open Zone Alarm, go to the "Privacy Tab", Main, Options and open th Site
List. You will find a number of sites that have various "cookie controls"
blocked. Unblock those on the sites you are getting the red X's (for me it
was things like CNN, Washington Post, E-Bay, Buy.com and some others). This
will allow 3rd party cookies and some other things you may not want, but it
does eliminate the problem. In my case, my spybot still blocks the 3rd party
bots, like "double click" and "avenue A" that seem to be pervasive on the
Web. I think that there are still some bots slipping through and I may have
damaged certain areas last time I cleaned them out, so be careful.

PS: I also have Zone Alarm Pro.

I've been looking at ZAPro a dozen times now because of this problem. Even
tried to turn the cookies of. I didn't associate it the way you have just
explained it though. This should fix my problem.

Thanks.
