When I open IE6 and attempt a search, I recieve the following error message.

"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Program: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's
internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be
terminated."

The browser closes when I click "OK".

Does anyone know what's causing this and how I can correct it?

Thanks!

Hi,

It depends on what exactly is on that start page. Set the start page to
about:blank (in Control Panel, Internet) to start with.

Also, make sure you have the latest patches. Visit
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com.

And of course, run Adaware and Spybot to remove spyware you might have on
your machine.

Kind regards

See Hans post and try, as test, uninstalling Google Toolbar from Control
Panel -> Add/Remove Programs.
