"bubble noise" when switching internet sites

Win XP home; Audigy Sound Blaster 5.1 sound card; Google
tool bar with pop-ups denied and sound turned off. When I
move from one internet site to another, I often get
a "bubble popping" sound from my speakers. No pop-up, but
I get the noise. I've tried reloading the Google toolbar
but that doesn't help. I can lower the volume in my system
tray, but it seems that there has to be a better way. Any
ideas?

Have PestPatrol Installed? If so, the sound is coming from the
cookiecrunch.wav file. Re-name it to .oldwav. If PP is a program you have,
and you enable it to load at start-up, you can also R-Click the Systray
Icon> cookiepatrol> disable sound.

If not, then Control Panel>Sounds>windows explorer>start and complete
navigation. See if you've enabled sounds for those actions.

Likely one of you sound settings in Control Panel>Sounds such as the sound
for 'complete navigation' or 'start navigation'.

Excellent detective work! I forgot about PestPatrol. Sorry to throw you a red
herring with the Google toolbar, I never thought of anything else. THANK YOU
VERY MUCH!!!

YW Marko. :-) No problem about the so-called Google red herring. Having all
info is better than having to guess. <s>
Since we're here, you can change that .wav file to any other one if you
like. You can choose from those in the "Windows .wav file Library". Use a
wildcard search with Find> Files and Folders and select an alternative .wav.
Re-name it to cookiecrunch.wav, and re-name the old one to something else.
You can also get pretty good selections from a site such as Sounddogs.
