Just a note following a scan today, Microsoft AntiSpyware will pick up on the
BTWebControl.exe (used with BT Braoadband) and will list it as a dastardly
trojan and quarantine it depending on your settings - I double-checked this
with BT and the BTWebControl is needed for broadband so any BT subscribers
out there do not delete it.

I phoned BT who said it was not part of their setup, so I quarantined it.
Everything seems still to work OK

Hmm - this is confusing--is this a false positive or not.

The best "person" to report a false positive is the vendor involved, using
the web form available here:

http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/isv/fpform.aspx

MVP's are also able in some cases to make such reports through other channels.

It is best to report such false positives in the .signatures group - I
believe that Microsoft staff read that group for such reports.

Given the ambiguity, I'll take no further action on this report--let's see
whether others report similarly.

Bt WEBDIALER additional input (new member)

Hi

I too have a reported threat (AVG anti-malware prog on trial). I have emailed BT to try to establish if this is legitimate (i.e. "false positive" from AVG) or an actual threat.

If anyone has more info on this issue I would be grateful.

Thanks - John (wilderness)
