hi,

I have just tried upgrade from xp home to vista home preimum, my system
specs meet the requirements of vista and i uninstalled all software which it
recognised as being incompatable..

The installation seemed to go fine untill it got to the end of completing
upgrade, from here i goes into a loop of restarting the computer, a blue
screen appears for a second until it reboots.

Running a safe mode session results in it stalling at btkrn.sys.

any ideas of how to fix this are welcome

thanks for reading

You need to post what model computer you have. That file is for Bluetooth. If
you have anything Bluetooth, disconnect it until you install Vista. You
should also remove any hardware that came up as incompatible or possibly
incompatible on the Upgrade Advisor.

hi Mary,

The system is self built, the basics are amd 4200 duel core, 1 gig ram, sata
HD, Nvidia gfx card and motherboard is a ASRock aliveSata2-glan. i did a bit
of searching after i encountered this problem and was directed to the
bluetooth idea, after rolling back to xp i uninstalled all the bluetooth
software and tried to install vista again altough i have come across the same
proble.

I have just realised i can make the system stay on the blue screen but i
have just rolled back to xp again without taking the error information down
which is quite annoying.

regards
