BT Voyager Utility Removal

Years ago I used to have a BT Voyager 100 modem for which there was a
connection status monitor icon in the system tray (two green arrows which
changed to red when the connection was lost). I've *never* been able to get
rid of that system tray icon despite uninstalling the software for the
modem.

It's not doing any harm but I'd like to permanently get rid of it - anyone
here know how?

Keith,

Have you tried going to the Control Panel > Network Connections > Right
Click on the Local Area Connections > click Properties > and then uncheck
the Show Icon in Notification Area... box?

In addition to what Falko said,

Create a system restore point - or a Registry back-up (just in
case).

Then, visit http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315539. Under the
"Workaround" instructions, perform steps 1 to 4. Pay particular
attention to the footnote in paragraph 4.

Device Manger will provide a complete hardware list, which will
include Plug and Play devices that were previously installed on
your computer. Scroll through the list and look for the BT
Voyager 100 modem. If it is listed, right click on the entry and
select the Uninstall option. That should remove residual traces
of the hardware from the registry.
