BSOD

Hi all

Non-networked Laptop running Win2k sp2, is giving a work colleague a BSOD,
after trying to install an external CDR-RW drive via the parallel port. I
think it is a "backpack" cdr-rw.

The stop code is: c000026, fail to load device driver bpflt.sys

The BSOD appears when trying Safe Mode and Last Known Config.

Does anyone have any clues as to how to get the thing started as he really
needs some info off it. Windows aint a problem, the data is. I have a XP
disc which I thought about loading over the 2k install. Would this work? I
dont know if the 2k disc is available at the moment.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Probably not.

Make it available. Boot with it and go to the Emergency Recovery
Console. Disable the offending driver/service.

I think it's a CD Rom / Burner driver. Try unplugging your Optical drive/s.
If it starts, go to the hardware manager and delete the optical drives. Shut
down. Plug them back in and Windows should want to reinstall them. Let
windows redetect.
