BSOD when running programs in Vista

Ok, so I'm going to do a brief step bystep of what I've done on my new rig to
instal vista.

-My family has several computers, and with all the shifting around that
we've done we had an extra, unused copy of XP so I installed that on mine and
then installed Service Pack 2.

-We're on a 56k so I didnt want to fully update XP before upgrading so i
just popped in my Vista Premium Upgrade DVD and did the install.

-Everything seemed to go just fine until I ran any program at all. This
includes games, messing with the tool bar on the side, or even just playing
music.

-BSOD gives me an error message involving this file: nv4_mini.sys

Also, I have not yet gone online and finished the registration proccess on
the computer (I am on a different one) because I can't find my Juno install
CD, would registration/updates help?

If anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi there,

I wouldn't do the upgrade in that way.
There's no need to install XP prior to installing the Vista upgrade.
Just boot from the Vista disc & it'll prompt for the XP disc during setup to
validate the upgrade.

Try updating your Video drivers.

I'll second that.

nv4_mini.sys is nVIDIA driver. Download and install latest nVIDIA video
drivers for Vista.

A Vista x86 upgrade has to be started from a running operating
system. There is no request for shiny media as with XP or prior operating
systems. Have a great day.
