I have upgraded my PC to an XP2400+ from a P3 800 with new
MoBo and RAM etc. When I tried to boot the PC I got the
BSOD with 'inaccessable boot device' and a failure message
that suggested I might have a boot sector virus and/or
have installed new hardware. I tried to boot the machine
with a formatted (so blank) drive that I have spare and
got the same message. I then tried to boot using the 2000
CD and got as far as needing to access the drive when I
again got the same message. I have seen other posts on
this subject and have searched the KB but cannot find a
method of getting passed where I seem to be stuck. I
cannot access the HD and cannot get 2000 far enough to
allow a rebuild. Help!!!

Stop 7b usually indicates a problem with not having the correct driver for
your mass storage controller and/or filter drivers. On a clean install
(fresh hardware) it almost always is a problem locating the correct driver.
Make sure you press F6 at the appropriate time and load the driver -- it's
important.
