My brand new computer (a Compaq notebook) has started to freeze up randomly. The hard drive starts to click and clunk repeatedly, and a blue screen displays this error:
Kernel stack inpage error
or
Kernel data inpage error
STOP: 0x0000007A (0xc07ba3a0,0xc000000e,0xf7474 384,0x13aa8860)
atapi.sys- address f7474384 base at f7467000, DateStamp 4110b4d
It tells me to disable BIOS memory caching and shadowing, but, it being a Compaq, I can't get into BIOS.
The problem has persisted after doing a system restore and after reformatting and reinstalling Windows. (I have XP Home Edition, and I did not delete the recovery partition).
Is this a problem I can fix, or is something wrong with my hard drive or other hardware?
