does anyone know why I can browse from my (default) user setting, but other users can't from their own desktop user setting? Everyone has admisistrator rights. Is there any other place that restricts browsing rights? I get a "can't find server" message on the other settings except the default setting. Thanks.

Gordo,

Please provide more detail about the browsing problems you, and the
others, are experiencing.

Are you referring to browsing from different computers? The same
computers? Different users on different computers? Are you in a
domain or workgroup? Have you tried other users as themselves on your
computer?

Please describe more precisely exactly what you mean by "browsing" and
what action yields "can't find server". What is "user setting"?

Cheers,
Chuck
Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.

I finally re-traced what installs had been made since the prob erupted. I had heard the spyware left over after install maybe the culprit. I ran both SpyBot and AdAware to bid adieu to the problem.

FYI, and others who may have had the same problem, I could connect thru IE 6.0 only on the main desktop page. If my kids went to their particular user setting desktop pages , they could not connect via IE, they would get the "Can't Find Server" message. I don't know why it only effected their settings, and not the defauilt setting. However, running both spyware programs did the trick. I suspect New.net was the culprit.

New.Net is major network problem spyware. That would be my guess too.
Thanks for the update.
