I have a omputer running Win2000 Server with IE 6.0 sp1, I
am able to connect to the internet just fine, however if i
go to MSN or Yahoo and try to run a search it comes back
with a "The page cannot be displayed" error. Any other
legitamite search engine that i have tried comes back just
the same. I have checked my settings and have not seen
anything out of the ordinary. Other computers on my
network can run searches just fine. Any ideas would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Mark et al:

We all have the Trojan.Qhosts virus. it captures your
registry and changes it to go to sites it picks or
displays ads with pop-ups. You are infected. The virus
scanners I had on my PC did not catch this. It comes
originally from a web page. You can go to
www.Symantec.com for details. However, I am holding off
clearing this virus in hopes that Google presures MS into
getting a patch out quickly that will clear the registry
files. Short of that, the fix involves regedit and I get
real scared when using that. It is very involved. Maybe
someone knows if MS is working on a fix for infected
PC's. I sure hope so, and soon.
