Hi,
I wonder if someone can give me an advice with this:
I have a laptop, member of a domain in the office. I would
like to use my one and only profile:
domain_name.user_name. When in the office, I can browse
computers that are not members of this domain, just a
member of a default workgroup called "WORKGROUP". Once I
loose connection to the PDC though, I no longer can browse
any other computers, instead I get an error message: "No
logon servers are available to service the logon request"
Why would I need a logon server (PDC or BDC) to
authenticate to a computer in a Workgroup? Why can't I
just go directly to that PC in "My Network Places", enter
a username and PW, and voila, browse the PC?
If I use a non-domain user logon on my laptop, I can
browse these PCs, no problem, but it is incredibly
inconvenient to have to maintain 2 profiles on my laptop.
Anyone with an idea, I'd really appreciate your comments.
Thanks
