For some reason my browsers, both Internet Explorer and
Netscape 7.1, just stop downloading a web page or in can
also occur when I'm downloading my e-mail. There are
times when the browser stops even before I start to
download something. I ran the MS Network Diagnostic twice
when downloading my e-mail. First, when I had no problem
in downloading my e-mail, the diagnostic showed that
everything passed, then in the same download session, the
e-mail stopped being downloaded and so I reran the
diagnostic and got a failed on the InboundMailServer and
on the OutBoundMaiServer; which stated that "Ping request
could not find host mail.grrtech.com. Please check the
name and try again." The server name is correct so
something happens in the software that changes the host
name or something like that.
I also got a failed on the DNSServerSearchOrder ---
whatever this is.
This has been going on ever since I installed WinXP and
is very frustrating. Often I have to reboot the computer
3 or 4 times to get my e-mail downloaded and the several
more times just to read the e-mail if it has access a web
site for a download. Also, this problem occurs when I try
to access a web page at a web site, the browser just up
and quits and then I have to reboot and try again, often
several times.
I am of the opinion that something is corrupt, but I
don't know where to look.
Any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated.
