I currently use MSN's browser, and of course I have the
latest Internet Explorer, I am looking for an
alternative that would replace IE, and for several
reasons. I am bombarded with IE's pop-ups the minute I
launch it and am constantly experiencing errors when
browsing to places that I have no problems with MSN. If
possible I would like a browser that offers great
reliability and hopefully a pop-up blocker. I have read
about several browsers and am now too confused to make a
choice. Fairly new to the internet I was hoping for
sound advice from a group that is associated with a
trusted name such as Microsoft. For more on my quest,
please feel free to ask me for any information you may
need.
Regards,
Kim

Also, there is plenty of information out there about the comparative merits
of various browsers. This article touts Explorer 5 (you and I most likely
have version 6): http://www.carrboro.com/browsers.html

Search for more info by putting in "best browser" or "which browser to use"
in your search engine.

Hi KIm,

Verry often Internet Explorer errors and problems don't have much to do with IE itself, but rather
with third party internet related software, spy/foistware, or even virus or trojan infections, so
it's a good idea to first try and get those out of the way, or at least rule them out.

A good start would therefore be to scan for spyware:

Download Spybot - Search & Destroy: http://www.tomcoyote.org/SPYBOT/

After installing, press Online, and search for, put a check mark at, and install all updates.

Now close all browser windows, hit 'Check for Problems', and have SpyBot remove all it finds.
When you've done all that, test your system, and see whether your problem is gone.

If it isn't, go to http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ , and download Hijack This.

Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, and save the log somewhere

Next, go to http://www.spywareinfo.com/forums/

Sign in, go to the appropriate section, press "new topic", explain your problem, and copy and
paste the contents of the Hijack This log into your new message. You'll get expert assistance in
dealing with your problem.

That's just the standard generic Windows error message.
If we are to know *why* you're getting these error messages, we'll need to know a little more than
that.

When you next get the error, please click "details of what this error report contains", and tell
us what the AppName and the ModName are you see listed there.
Then we'll have something to work with.

Hi.......I have a ZoneAlarm Pro Firewall 4. I haven't seen a popup since I
downloaded it and set it to block ads.

I'm using "Pop Up Blocker and Ad Killer for Kazaa", it is a free tool
and perform very well. It says it is make especially for Kazaa, but it
deals with ordinary Internet Explorer and MSN Explorer pop-ups that
you get when surfing the web too.
