Hi,
I'm having a problem not being able to see in Excel linked
files from a Web page. When I click on the link in the
browser, Excel opens briefly, then closes. I looked at
the "Browse in same window" option for the "xls" files and
is not checked.
I looked in the registry, under the "Excel.Sheet.8" key
and there was no "BrowserFlags" entry. I added the entry
in the registry, with value '9'. Still wasn't able to see
the file in Excel. Only after I checked the "Browse in
same window" check box I was able to see the file in
EXCEL!! (not in browser) and after that the "Browse in
same window" was unchecked automatically. Somehow, it
seemed that the entry that I had added in the registry
took effect only after I checked the "Browse in same
window" option. Can somebody explain to me why this
happened and how can I get around this - I need to deploy
a fix for 1000 users and I want to send them a batch file
to update their registry only. I don't want them to have
to go check the "Browse in same window" option.
I'm running Windows 2000 and Excel 97.
Thank you,
Grace
