browser won't open

I have been having a problem with ie6 not opening. When I
connect to the ISP it begins to launch the browser, but it
will not stay open. It just disappears. I have also tried
launching it from the start button and it won't work from
there either. It is happening most of the time when I log
on, but not always.

I tried downloading the service pack and it woked a couple
of times and then quit again. I also find that when I
click on a link in an email, nothing happens.
