I usually have a few windows (i.e. Weather Channel, Fox
News, CNN, Dow Jones) that I keep open all day. My
problem is that when I click on links listed in emails,
the new link takes over one of the existing open
windows. I then have to go a reopen say the Weather
Channel window in order to get it back on my desktop. How
do I prevent this from happening?

Hi,
From IE> Tools> Options> Advanced... uncheck "Reuse windows for launching
shortcuts."

You can also drag a hyperlink to a window's button on the taskbar, wait for
the window to restore then drag the link to the window. Let's you decide
which window to use.

Hi Marshall - It turns out that there's a simple fix for this, but for some
reason it's almost unknown.

Close OE and IE. In Windows Explorer, go to Tools|Folder Options|File
Types now find URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol (it will probably be
in the N/A area of the Ext column). Select it, then click Advanced,
then highlight Open and click Edit. Now uncheck the Use DDE box and OK
out. That's it! Now your clicked links from OE will open in new
windows.
