hi, i have a problem with my ie6. Am using Windows ME. I recently did a
windows update and it threw everything out of whack. Now when the browser
tries to open a new window, the new window just appears blank...no error
messages, the page doesn't even appear to load..how do i solve this
problme??? please help....

Hi Jeremy,

Try this:

1. Click [Start] [Run] type:
(Press Enter after each command)
Regsvr32 /i URLMON.DLL
Regsvr32 /i shdocvw.dll
Regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
Regsvr32 /i oleaut32.dll
Regsvr32 /i shell32.dll (For XP Only)

2. Restart Windows
3. Open IE [Tools] [Internet Options] [Programs] [Reset
Web Settings]

If this does not help, run this fix:
http://mvps.org/sramesh2k/utils/IEFix.exe

Manual procedure: (Microsoft Knowledge article link)

I'm having the same problem. I've tried each and every
one of the recommendations given in this post and in the
Knowledge Base article, to no effect. The only thing of
interest is that when I run Regsvr32 /i oleaut32.dll, I
get this message:

"oleaut32.dll was loaded, but the DllInstall entry point
was not found.

DllInstall may not be exported, or a corrupt version of
oleaut32.dll may be in memory. Consider using PView to
detect and remove it."

I have no idea how to use PView, though I suspect it's
just that the /i switch shouldn't have been included.

Please help!

Owen

You're correct. The "/i" option not required for oleaut32.dll.
