Browser window closes when "Open in new window" is used

When I have a browser window open, If I either use the
function "open in new window" or I try to open a new
browser with a shortcut, the original window will close.

I have tried to reinstall windows XP, and that did not
work.

Yahoo Companion is known to cause this.

Other issues with new pages.
