Browser stuck on old proxy homepage! Won't reach any websites.

Hi all,

I've just upgraded from Windows 98 to XP, and I'm having a big problem
with IE6.

A few months ago, while still using 98, I must have put a proxy into
my LAN settings of IE, and forgot that I had changed it.

Well, I upgraded to XP and when I tried to browse, I'd type in a
website...like "google.com", and it would take me to the hompage of
"u32.org". It starts going to google.com and then I see in the bottom
bar of the browser it automatically redirects itself to
"Opening page www.google.com/u32.org/template..."...or something like
that. It takes me to this place no matter where I try to go and I
can't get to any websites.

I was really confused for a while, but finally thought to check my LAN
Settings and found that they were set to use a proxy "u32.org:80". I
knew that must have been the problem, so I unchecked that. It didn't
work, same problem still happened.

I checked in Internet Options-Connections again and found the same
proxy in the "Settings" part of the "Connections" options. So I
removed it from there too and unchecked "use a poxy server...".

I've also told it to "Automatically detect settings". I've also
deleted Cookies and Files, and Cleared History several times in
Internet Options-General.

Still no dice. It still goes to this u32 homepage whenever I try to
go to a website, and it won't go anywhere else. So, IE6 must still
think its using this proxy, or is stuck on it somehow.

Is there somewhere else I need to look? Is there somewhere else that
this proxy might be stored that I have to change?

Thanks for any help you can offer.
Josh

Go to: http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/
Download "Hijack This!" [freeware] or download direct (below):
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip

Unzip, double-click "HijackThis.exe" and Press "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button.
Click: "Save Log" (generates: "hijackthis.log")
