A friend is still using Windows 98 and IE6. The problem is that, after
prolonged brwsing, the pages load very slowly or not at all.

He has found that going to Windows disk cleanup and looking at the optin BUT
not deleting anything will cure the problem for a while.

I am at a loss to suggest what to do. Any ideas please?

Clean out the temporary internet files?

Hi Jerry :-)

I don't really remember all that I thought I knew about Win '98, but, some
things may remain the same. :-) You might try the following and see if it
helps, just ignore those that may not apply:

Clearing the TIF Cache -
Safely Delete the Temporary Internet Files

and...

Try reregistering the following files:

Start>Run>enter the following lines in the window one at a time, hitting
Enter after each one. You should see a message after entering each one that
it was registered.

regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 Urlmon.dll

If these steps do not resolve your problem, or you need help with the above,
please post back to this thread with the details and any error messages.

Hope this helps

I'll try deleting the index file to see if that helps. Thanks for the
suggestion - dealing with Win 98 is a real pain!
