Specific issue: I type in a URL. Browser goes to URL. page loads the browser
get redirected to Dell Search page powered by Google. Happens also when
ever a click is made on a link in the intended page...re-directed to the
Dell Search page. Any effective fixes out there?

Get rid of the spyware that Dell loaded on your machine.

Hint, it's called MyWay.

Do you think that Dell customer service might be able to answer the
question?

Seems some of the trolls here (sorry Wes!) just assume you know exactly how
to do all those things... First thing I do with any dell machine is go into
Start Menu->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs.

Once in there, look through and see what kinds of things you can get rid of.
Make sure you keep anything important obviously, but some of the stuff to
look for is anything with the word "search" or "toolbar" in the name. There
really should be about a dozen items or less in there on a new PC.

Once you get everything out of there, run a windows update
(windowsupdate.microsoft.com), reboot, and run System Restore from start->all
programs->Accessories->System Tools and create a new save point.

Then, down the road, if your pc ever gets all messed up you can go back to
even better than factory defaults - you can get factory defaults minus all
the crapware.

And some would provide more information IF a poster actually came back and
read the replies to their OP and asked.

Most CDO posters, unlike you, cannot manage to find their way back to even
see their OP.
