I've been seeing articles that are saying some browsers are safer for
secure transactions than others--that is, Mozilla would be safer to
use than IE because most attacks are aimed at it, or Opera would be
better than Netscape, etc. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Would one browser be particularly safer than another?

So they say. I have never had a problem using IE.

There are more attacks aimed at IE, however there are a fair number of
security holes in other browsers as well. Those include Mozilla/Netscape,
Opera, and others. If you are going to use IE, I recommend that you
immediately download any available patches for it from Microsoft, and also
have the security settings in IE set to at least "Medium-High".

Thanks......me neither. If IE security is properly set up, there shouldn't
be any.

If IE is set up properly for tight security and you have installed ALL of
the MS security patches it should be safe.

The big problem with IE is that virus writers aim for the biggest and
easiest targets, with means IE which MOST people use and where LOTS of
people do NOT set the security tight enough and do NOT install ALL of the MS
security patches.

Personally, I gave up on IE a few years ago and only use Mozilla as I perfer
several of its features and it is LESS targeted by the virus writers. Case
in point, once and a while, I still use IE and in those few instances, I
have managed to catch a few web-based viruses.

Substitute other browser names. You'll not find anywhere near the
endless security nightmares with browsers such as Mozilla. Not by a
long shot.
