When I try to download the update I need for the patch I
need to get rid of a virus on my computer (the virus is
msblast.exe) it will not let me onto the update screen. It
says:

You have tries to visit Windows Update with a browser that
does not support Frames or ActiveX Technology.

Then that disappears and it says Bad Request in the top
left corner of a blank page. I have been trying to download
this "fix" for the virus for a week now and can't seem to
get anywhere.

Also, what update am I supposed to have? I have an
Anti=virus system-It's called AVG and I got it from
www.grisoft.com. Can anybody help me? I'm guess one of
those computer illiterate people!

Thanks in advance

Kim

You need to use Internet Explorer to download from Windows Update.

AVG has removal tools for various viruses, go to http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_ts_removers.php HTH.

So much for free anti-virus software.
Hi Kim, The patch you are refering to will do you no good
now it is to be installed BEFORE you get the blaster
ever here of closing the barn door after the horse is
gone?

If you connected the PC to the Internet without
having first
installed the KB824146 Hotfix, without having first
installed an
antivirus application with current virus definition
files, and before
enabling a firewall, you're very likely to get infected
from any of
the thousands of PCs on the Internet that are constantly
broadcasting
the Blaster and/or Welchia worms. It only takes a few
seconds of
exposure.

To stay on-line long enough to get the necessary
updates, patches,
and removal tools, click Start > Run, and
enter "shutdown -a" when the
next RPC countdown begins. This will abort the shut
down. Also, make
sure you've enabled a firewall before starting, to
preclude any more
intrusions while getting the updates/patches/tools.
