browser not opening automatically

1/26 I have bluelight and Explorer used to open
automatically. Not I have to press the launch explorer
broswer button. I am not sure which vesion I have. I
have Windows ME and did an upgrade last year on line for
explorer. Someone from this site answered me advising me
to use a patch which I was supposed to download. When I
scanned it, I was advised it contained a virus and not to
use. Please advise jgosticmoran(remove this)@yahoo.com
