Does anyone know why IE6 all of a sudden does not size to
my monitor screen anymore? There's about a half inch
from the top that doesn't size to the whole monitor
anymore. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not Sure what you mean by resizing task bar, and where
would I find any auto-hide options.

Frank,

I have seen many good answers from you but I don't think you are answering
the actual problem in this case. I have the same problem and sent a detailed
description to another news group yesterday.

Subject: Windows/Background conflict

Dell Dimension 4400
Dell 1800FP Monitor
WinXP Home V/2002 SP1 with all updates

I have the type of problem where one minute everything is ok and then for no
reason something went wrong. I've had no luck in tracking down the problem
with msconfig, regedit or a number of other programs. I hope you understand
what I'm trying to explain. A picture of the screen would show you clearly
but I can't send it through here.

What I see on my screen is as follows:

The color and background picture is the full screen but all active buttons I
have set up have shifted down 1 inch and the top 1 inch is then inactive,
even though the background is still there. I can see this happen during the
boot. The screen is correct during boot but just before it completes
everything is shifted down 1 inch. This indicates Windows has made a change
but I can't track down the change. To make it worse, the Office buttons on
the upper right corner, within this 1 inch dead area, is still active.
Pop-ups can still use this top 1 inch.

It's almost like I have been infected with something but PestPatrol and
Spybot find nothing wrong.

Then to make it even more complicated, IE (or anything like word, explorer,
etc.) all cannot use this top 1 inch even when they have been 'maximized'.
But then if I use the 'full screen' button it fills the whole screen. In
other words, the 'maximize' and 'full screen' are 2 different things. This
also shows there is nothing wrong with the monitor.

Then the final straw is occasionally it shifts everything up and the 1 inch
is dead on the bottom of the screen.

I would appreciate any further suggestions in tracking down this problem.

What Windows version?
If the taskbar doesn't autohide, i.e. it never becomes just a thin blue
line, then put the mouse cursor on its top edge so that it becomes a double
arrow and drag it up so that it is larger. Then do the same but drag it
back down to the size you like.
