Browser Minimize and Maximize

Developing site in 2003 and want to make sure that when the browser is
minimized all my elements don't "freak out". I had made one earlier with no
tables and cells and this happens (www.headcasesalonandspa.com). The new one
has structured layout with tables, cells, layers and frames, will this
eliminate this?

Start over: Use only tables and cells for placement of your content. Make
your table 760 pixels wide. You cannot control how a viewer will set their
browser window.
Your text images are not readable.

You are using VML (Word Art) which is an IE specific format, and doesn't
render well in other browsers. For example, I recommend you download and
install FireFox to also view your web. You'll be quite shocked.

Thanks Tom, Hey I have something else that I just cannot understand for some
reason. I am using layers in the new site and I have no clue on where to
place them to make sure they appear where I want them to appear once it is
published. They show up in different locations when I preview in Front Page
and preview through the browser. Any advice to help me wrap my brain around
this would be much appreciated.

Your pages,"What's New" and "Policies" are completely blank.
I expect that's what Eleanor is referring to.

If not, then I suggest putting "something" on those pages.....or remove them
until you've fully developed the site.

Yes , they do "freak out". Everything becomes muddled if I change the
browser size from maximum to about a quarter of max size.

you could also run a javascript that will maximize the browser window when
the page opens. i'm not sure if the script idea will work across all the
different browsers, but it may be worth a try.

...But only if you also run a JavaScript to restore my browser to the
size it was before the settings were ruined.
Changing the browser size is NOT the way to win friends and keep
viewers.
Besides - why does anyone need a browser opened to 2560x1024?

FrontPage design view is not a browser. Always use Preview in browser
to see where things are actually being positioned - and preview in
different sized browsers (800x600, 1024x768), and different versions
(IE, FireFox, Opera etc.)

Until you have learnt how to handle layers, stick to tables and table
cells for layout. And avoid placing text in layers - see what happens
when the text size is changed (View->Text size).

ronx,
who said anything about maximizing the browser window to 2560X1024?
i am using a javascript from dynamic drive
(http://dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex8/automax.htm) that maximizes the
browser to the available screen width and height. so i suppose if you have a
monitor that has the capability of displaying 2560X1024 and you have your
screen resolution set to 2560X1024 then it will go to that size.
The script has been around since 2000 and works great with FF1, IE5+, and
NS6 and also works good in frames and dynamic web templates.
the script only maximizes the pages that it is added to and any other pages
will be displayed as they are designed. this script does not change any of
the browser settings or screen resolutions on the computer itself.
rest assured it wil not "ruin" anyone's browser size or settings as you
claim that it might!
although my website is new to the net, and granted i still have alot of
work to do on it, i have had no complaints from any of the visitors, and i
have also in fact won a few new friends because of my new website and still
have the old friends from before using the script! i have found that this
script to be a very simple solution for having my webpages display on
everyones computer as i have designed them.

If you change a browser window to full screen, it will stay at full
screen until someone changes it back. When JavaScript is used to open
the browser to full screen, it does NOT maximise the browser, it changes
the window size to the maximum available so the restore button (2
overlapping squares in top-right) will not be available. Subsequent
pages will not return the browser to its original size.
My monitor is set at 2580x1024 - If you set the browser to full screen
with JavaScript that is the size I will get. That is much too big for
any web page I can imagine.
It will be better to use a pop-up window set to the size you need, but
maximising the browser window regardless of the screen resolution is not
sensible.

FYI, the script fails totally in FireFox 2 and Opera 9, and fails in IE7
when the page is opened in a new Tab.
