browser hijack?

Anytime I click on a brower shortcut on my desktop two
windows open: one, the shortcut I clicked; the other, a
porno site. This does not happen if I click on IE icon.
I'm running 6.0 with all the security patches installed.
It also does not happen if the shortcut leads to a secure
site, such a bank. Have I been hijacked? What can I do?

Yes, you have been hijacked. Download and run adaware and spybot to clean
things up.

Once you have things cleaned up, post back to find how to reset your
security to avoid such things happening in the future.

Did you update the reference file before using them?
You have to do that even "right out of the box".

Download 'Hijack This!'. http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button.
Press that, save the log, load it in Notepad, and copy its contents. Most
of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything
yet.

Then go to http://forums.spywareinfo.com/
where you'll get expert help.

Just sign in, or post as a guest,and go to the Spyware and Hijackware
Removal Support section. Press "new topic", explain your problem, and
copy and paste the contents of the Hijack This log into your new message.
