One day I was on the net and all of a sudden, it stopped
working. I couldn't send or receive anything. So I turned
my computer off and went to bed. The next day, when I got
onto the net, I couldn't load a page in my browswer. It
just kept saying "Page cannot be opened" or whatever it
says. The night before, it set my homepage as something
that I didn't want, and despite many attempts at changing
it, it automatically changed it back. This has been about
two weeks ago, and I still haven't been able to get a web
page to open. I can get online with no problem. I can
even use Imesh, with no problem. I can't open ANY web
page or use AOL Instant Messenger. I talked to my
computer repair guy and he said to get an Explorer
update. I couldn't download it, so I ordered the cd for
Explorer 6 SP1. I installed that and still nothing
worked. We started thinking that I had a virus and he
gave me a virus scanner. I ran it and still nothing
worked. I've ran anti-spyware programs, I use Zone Alarm.
I've tried different browsers, such as Slim Browser. And
still nothing works. It's been about 2 weeks, or longer.
There's nothing wrong with my modem, it stays connected
for hours. It has to be something to do with Explorer and
I don't know how to fix it. Please help! Thanks.

There's a good possibility that this is being caused by a third-party
program (adware, spyware, parasite).

Can you ping the sites?
For example Microsoft.com
Go to a dos prompt and execute
PING www.microsoft.com
Do you get positive response?

Can you get to the sites if you include http://www...
or if you past the address in the address bar?
