Browser Display Problem

l'm running Internet Explorer at 6.0.2 leve. I'm using Windows XP at the
latest maintenance level. I am using the Web Server included with XP.

When I browse a file with a .htm ending, I have no problem (i.e. index.htm).
When I browse a file with a .asp ending in my website, a text version of the
file is first displayed. When I click retry, the formatted version of the
file is displayed. This only happens to files on my machine. I have turned
off my firewall to no avail.

I have no problems with .asp files that are on the Internet.

Does anyone know why this is happening and how to correct it?

Thanks in advance

Local files with an .asp extension are on IE's "unsafe file list":

Short fix, possibly, is to remove the "confirm open after download" checkbox
via File Types
as mentioned in the article linked at the bottom of the article mentioned
above. Or, temporarily, in IE go to Tools...Internet Options...Advanced
tab, Security section and check "Allow active content to urn in files on My
Computer", click Apply, click Okay. But do this only when you want to view
..asp files locally (as a security measure). However, quick testing of all
this on my machine shows these measures still don't seem to provide the fix
you're looking for.

Might be this issue?
