Browser Customizing

I'm not happy with the way xp has modified (if it can be said that way) the
browser search. When I open my browser, I like to do my search by hitting
the IE Search button. I want it to default to the most common search
instead of me having to define what type of search I'm doing.

Not sure if this should be posted here or on the XP site, therefore, I'm
posting on both.

I have a similar issue with the file search.

try:
http://www.google.com/options/defaults.html
??

Okay now I have a new problem.
On one computer, I changed the Internet search to "Classic". This works!
Yeah, this is what I wanted.
I like the classic search better because all the links stay on the left side
while the web pages are displayed on the right.

Now for the bad news.
I did this on a second computer (running xp pro) and now the search is
blank. I can't select
customize either, because it brings up a blank page. How can I fix this?

I tried to restore back from a point 2-days ago. The restore was
successful, but the browser search still does not work. What can I do?
