I upgraded from Windows 98 & IE 5.5 to Windows 2000 SP1 &
IE 6 yesterday (and the related service packs). It's a
little hard to explain exactly when this happens but
basically when I navigate within a site, eventually or
immediately shuts down and puts me back on my desktop.
The clearest example of this problem was last night when I
wanted to check the status of a US Airways flight. From
their home page when I clicked on "Flight Status" IE
consistently shut down and put me back to my desktop. This
isn't the only site this happens on. It happened today on
the Microsoft site as I tried to navigate through the
Knowledge Base.
I don't have this problem with Netscape 7.1. I tried
disabling my antivirus software (Trend PC-cillin) and still
had the problem. This may be unrelated to my current
problem, but in Windows 98 I got a lot of "Performed
Illegal Operation..." messages navigating web sites which
was part of the reason I upgraded to Windows 2000.
I appreciate any suggestions.
