After a number of hours, my browser (IE and NS) cannot
connect to the internet unless I log off and then log back
on.

Before logging off, the weird thing is I can ping any IP
and any domain name.

I suspect the problem maybe related to spyware.

Any ideas?

As the other stated and I think you both are right this
sounds like spyware. There is also a growing one from
New.net . This is loaded by other things such as
RealPlayerOne and several others. If this is on your
system make sure to remove it through the Add / Remove
programs as if you just delete the files it damages the
hosts file and winsock so you wont get any link to the
internet. If you also just do a search for New*.* and see
some dll's with this then it is also on your system. Some
free checkers of course from the web are Spy-bot and Ad-
aware but I prefer the Spy-bot at this time. good luck!

%systemroot%\system32\newdev.dll might not be one of them. (O:=

A little info on new.net and how to get rid of it, if you have it.
