browser and email choose wrong network

computer A is connected to computer B via ethernet crossover
cable. computer B is also connected to a wireless network.
computer A does not access the internet.

when i run firefox and thunderbird on computer B, they
choose the wrong network, seeking the internet on the local
area connection instead of the wireless network connection.

what do a change to cause these programs to choose the
wireless network?

Sounds like routing issue. Posting the result of ipconfig /all may help.
