Most likely the feed roller in the ADF is worn or a little shiny.
Open the cover on the ADF (It hinges up with a little resistance), you will see
the roller there. This model may have two rollers, I'm not sure.
Clean the roller with isopropyl alcohol, if that improves the situation then at
some time in the future you may have to replace the roller(s). Not too hard to
do.

Ya, there are two rollers. They seem pretty warrn out (pitted, scrached, and
maybe even burned a little?) do you know where i can buy those rollers off
hand. when i search for parts i only find things like this:
http://worldoffax.com/BROTHER MFC 6800.htm
Brother MFC 6800 ADF Rebuild Kit $49
Brother MFC 6800 ADF Separator Pad (Bag Of 3) $45
Brother MFC 6800 ADF Catch Tray $29

which is relevant? and can i just buy the rollers you think, or do i have to
buy that adf rebuild kit?

James
The relevant parts are
LE6233001 Document Feeder Roller assembly
LE2037001 Separation Roller
LE6345001 Separation Rubber unit

Brother parts can be difficult to get in some countries, so you may have to
order from overseas depending where you are.
If you can find the parts and you need help with the installation please e-mail
me.

Tony,

I have a MFC 6800 too. I have the same problem with the feeder. It would stop the paper half way. I cleaned the roller like you suggested but, it did the same thing. So, I'm planning to buy a new roller, but I can't remove the cover to get to the roller. Please advice how to replace the roller. Thank you.
