Brother MFC-3100c

Well being a novice at this - I went ahead and installed XP OVER Win98 SE. Now it turns out that I needed to UNINSTALL my Brother software BEFORE I upgraded. SO now I cannot go back and take it (brother) out and reinstall it. I have already found on the brother website the driver(s) to be used in XP- which XP will NOT let me to use the old install disc (it says I need an older version of windows!) HOW do I go about fixing this problem?
 
There is an uninstall tool on the Brother web site, scroll way down. XP drivers too
