Brother MFC 210 C not printing magenta

I have been using this for a year or more, light duty. It's been
adequate, a little prone to paper jams and the interface is _not_
intuitive (at least for me), but otherwise just what I need,
until this week, when I discovered that it isn't printing magenta
at all. Repeated execution of the cleaning cycle and replacement
of the (compatible, from inksoutlet.com) magenta cartridge (with
with another compatible, also from inksoutlet.com) have changed
nothing.

I don't know if the no-name ink clogged my printer, but is seems
possible.

Is there anything I can do?

I replaced the printer with an MFC 420CN that I got back from a
consulting client who hated it. After replacing an ink cartridge,
cycling power, replacing another cartridge, changing paper size
from 4" x 6" to letter and paper type from inkjet to plain, it
seems to be running well.

It is now running the inksoutlet ink in a couple of colors, since
that is what I have here. If it clogs after a while, I will assume
the ink was the problem. Otherwise, I will suppose a year or two is
all I should expect from a cheap multi-function printer.
