Try this first:
go through these cleaning steps to see or get a clear opinion on how
clean your machine is:
= Click Start >> Control Panel>>Network and Internet Connections >> Double
click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Taps:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced.
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box.
[ ] Disable script Debugging (internet Explorer) <= check this box
[ ] Disable Script Debugging (Other) <= check this box
Then click on Programs Tab and click Manage Add-Ons and Disable all non
Verified Add-Ons (You should Renable them later one-by-one and see the
culprit and update it or remove it.

Run disk cleanup and Defrag in safe mode then run this command:
sfc /scannow click [OK] you may need your XP CD installation media to
perform this operation and see if the computer will behave okay and keep
track with the history.
Open a run command and type in:
regedit.exe click [OK] and locate this Key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \Software \Microsoft \Windows \CurrentVersion \Internet
Settings\UrlHistory =

Make sure these setting are correct:
1... Click start >> Control Panel >> Double Click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options, on the IE Properties window
you will see these Options:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs
| Advanced .
Click on General tab, set the History days to 60 days to keep.
Click on Advanced and uncheck this check box:
[ ] Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed.
Click [OK], Reboot your machine, does this help?.

Try this:

Click on General Tab then click on Settings under Browsing History.
On the Settings on the Temp Internet Files and His Settings move the Temp
folder to another location and note the path down.
Click [OK] to apply the changes and close the IE properties and Reboot your
machine.
Repeat the steps above to access the IE properties and reverse the changes
for the Temp folder back to the default location, does it help?.
