My Linux server send broadcast (xxx.xxx.xxx.255) on my local net but
my XP workstations don't answer, so the application doesn't start.
How can i make XP answer to the broadcast of my server?

Check the all/any locally installed firewall software on the XP
PC(s). Add a rule to "allow" local network (xxx.xxx.xxx.1 --
xxx.xxx.xxx.254) requests thru.

Are the server and the XP PCs on:

1) Same network workgroup

2) Same sub-net mask" 192.168.xxx.yyy uses 255.255.255.0 mask
normally.

3) Check with anti-virus software(s). Some include a "hidden"
firewall. Norton Anit-Virus has an module known as "Internet Worm"
which is just like a firewall.

The server and the XP PCs are on the same workgroup and same sub-net
mask (255.255.255.0), there is no antivirus...
