My computer which is using Windows 2000 server is sending
approximately 100 bytes of information every second. I do
run Internet Information service on it because it is
needed for a third party softwre application. The problem
I am having is my other PC's in the network are not able
to get onto the Internet through my DSL router only my
Server can. If I disconnect the server from the router and
restart the router my other PC's than can get on. I have
had the router check out and it is O.K. Something is
causing my server to broadcast packets for no reason. I do
not have WINS enables which illiminates that. Is there any
other service or other problems that may be causing this
problem.

How many nics in your server? Got DNS on the nic pointing to your server-IP?
Does an ipconfig/all from the client show that everything is pointing to
your server-IP?

It is a simple matter to start the Win2K Server network
analyzer and see what the packets are. But a 100-byte
packet every second from Win2K Server is neither
unusual nor any cause for alarm. I don't think this
is necessarily related to your problem.

You need to do a little diagnosing and supply a little more
information. Can the workstations ping an outside IP address
with the server connected? How about by name?.Have you
tried "tracert" to see where the workstation packets are dying?

How is DNS configured on the server and workstations?
Are you using DHCP or static IPs? Is this a workgroup or an AD domain?
Does your server connect to the DSL router in the same way
as the workstations?
